About the volunteering opportunity
The GRC Book Market needs you - become part of something special!
Do you remember the feeling when you opened a new book as a child? The smell of the pages, the excitement of the first lines? We want to pass on this magic - and we are looking for you.
A success story continues
For many years, the book market of the DRK Kreisverband Bremen e.V. in the Caroline-Kettler-Haus in Hastedt was more than just a place where books changed hands. It was a home for stories, a meeting place for bookworms of all ages, a place for encounters and cultural exchange. Donated books found new readers here, a lively, sustainable cycle was created - and all for a good cause. Every novel sold, every children's book supported social projects such as the Red Cross Youth and other aid initiatives.
Now a new chapter begins - and you can help write the first page!
The new beginning: Überseestadt, 1st quarter 2026
In spring 2026, the GRC Book Market will open its doors at its new location in Überseestadt, at Löwenhof. A modern quarter, vibrant creativity, people with ideas - and right in the middle: our book market. A place that combines tradition and future.
But a place like this needs more than shelves and books. It needs a soul. It needs you.
Who we are looking for: You!
Do you love books? Do you believe that reading connects, educates and moves? You don't just want to be part of it, you want to shape it? Then you've come to the right place!
We are looking for a volunteer manager - someone with heart, passion and organizational talent who will not only get the book market up and running, but bring it to life.
Your Tasks
What you can expect:
- Development and organization: You help build the book market from the ground up and ensure that everything runs smoothly
- Teamwork: You will lead and support a dedicated volunteer team
- Creativity: You plan events such as reading days, reading circles or children's activities - there are no limits to your imagination
- Responsibility with purpose: you help to ensure that the proceeds benefit social projects
- Network: You are the contact person for the organization and actively help shape cultural life in Überseestadt

The most important reward: what stays in your heart
No salary in the world can outweigh the smile of a child holding their first book in their hands. No payment can replace the feeling when you know: I have made a difference. I have created something. I am part of something bigger.
That's what you get back. A little more every day.
