The AWO Refugium Hausvaterweg is a reception facility for adult refugees and their families. Up to 280 people can live in the accommodation spread over three floors. An experienced and qualified intercultural team of around 15 employees takes care of the residents' concerns and organizes life in the facility.

Arriving together: Neighborly togetherness in our accommodation
The new residents of our accommodation have only recently arrived in Germany - a time full of new impressions and challenges. While the formal steps such as school registration are still underway, there are many opportunities for open interaction.

The current situation: the children are eager to learn and waiting impatiently to start school. At the same time, their parents are mastering the first steps in their new everyday life and are facing the challenges of dealing with the authorities and bureaucracy. There is a great desire to explore the surrounding area, go on excursions and get to know the neighborhood. But language barriers and a lack of orientation in the big city of Berlin make these first steps difficult.
Our vision: We want to build a bridge and break down inhibitions! It would be wonderful if neighboring families would take the time to share their everyday lives with the new families:

Discover the neighborhood together: show them your favorite places and make it easier for them to find their way around. Make contacts: Spend time doing activities together, whether it's eating out, going to the playground or taking a walk. Create encounters: Your involvement helps families feel welcome and like they belong.

Every hour spent together is a valuable contribution to their arrival and integration. Help turn neighbors into friends!

Knowledge of foreign languages is desirable, but many things also work non-verbally
