About the volunteering opportunity
Cooking together promotes intercultural exchange and breaks down prejudices. Germany enjoys culinary diversity, and at “schmeck nei,” people from all regions of the world show just how much culture, drive, knowledge, and dedication—in other words, resources—they bring to the table.
Cooking together fosters mutual appreciation— a strong foundation for genuine integration into our society. Language is secondary—when you’re DOING things together, you understand each other even without words.

Your Tasks
The project takes place in your town in the Ludwigsburg district! You invite neighbors from your town, and together you'll cook your favorite dish one evening.
We’ll organize the following for you:

- a communal kitchen and a space for a lovely dinner (e.g., at a church or provided by the city),
- We’ll help you with planning and promotion. We have placemats from SCHMECK NEI that you can use to decorate.
- There’s no cost to you.
- Participation in the cooking evening is also free for all guests. Anyone who wishes to may make a donation.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Being able to cook a favorite dish. Enjoying genuine interactions with people in your neighborhood.
Time required
Once
On weekdays, on weekends, at night
One-time event; about 4 hours per evening; about 3 hours for planning and shopping

We help volunteers and working groups in this field connect with one another and offer them advice. We also provide training for volunteers and support refugees during their asylum proceedings. If you’re interested in getting involved, we’ d love to have your support! 😊
Would you like to get involved in the field of migration and society ? We offer a voluntary, free introductory training program : a training series consisting of 5 workshops titled “Understanding Migration and Society: do voluntary work.” It starts on November 3, 2026, in Steinheim/Murr.
