About the volunteering opportunity

The accordion is the instrument of the year 2026 - and we're not turning it into a classic exhibition, but a city project!
The extraordinary collection of a Berlin music teacher is touring Berlin shopping centers, where it will become a place for encounters, memories and conversations in the midst of everyday life.

👉 We are looking for people who would like to take part. Be there when Berlin becomes an exhibition space!
In March, the focus will be on a public cataloging happening:
Together we will open instrument cases, record the accordions and turn a collection into a living piece of the city's history.

Your Tasks
You don't need any previous musical knowledge - just curiosity and the joy of participating.
Individual time slots are also possible.

This is how you can get involved:
- packing and transporting the accordions (several dates in March)
- cataloging and documenting the instruments together (March)
- supporting the traveling exhibition in shopping centers (June-November)
- Moving the exhibition from center to center (assembly/dismantling)

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Depending on the area of responsibility (cataloging), the following skills are desirable:
Unpacking/packing: physical work, weights up to 18 kg
Data entry: basic knowledge of Excel, basic PC skills
Photography: basic knowledge of photography
Not essential, but helpful if available: basic knowledge and/or expertise in accordions/accordion types, etc.

The Landesmusikrat Berlin acts as an umbrella organization for music institutions and associations in Berlin and represents the interests of over 600,000 people from all areas of musical life. A particular focus is on the promotion of musical education for both young people and adults. The Landesmusikrat represents the music policy interests of its members, coordinates their activities and advises the Senate and the parties in the Berlin House of Representatives on music-related matters.
