About the volunteering opportunity
The Berliner Büchertisch is a project organized as a non-profit association and cooperative. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can afford to read. We accept book donations and distribute them to social and cultural institutions. The project is financed by selling some of the books in two social bookshops and an online store.
Your Tasks
We are looking for book enthusiasts who would like to support us on the phone. All incoming questions about the books and media we accept are answered on the phone. You will work according to fixed guidelines, have interesting conversations on the phone and become part of a very friendly team :)
Note: If you feel very uncomfortable saying no, you may find this task difficult. But it's a good opportunity to practise!
Time frame: You step in when no one from the team can. This could be once a month or several times. It depends on you. As the training is a bit more extensive, it would be good if you have time for volunteering in the longer term.

Our vision: Reading should be affordable for everyone - independent from his or her age, salary, social status or origin. That’s why the Büchertisch as a non-profit association supports libraries in schools, kindergartens, prisons and many other institutions. We also work in different projects to help children to access books and reading materials.
Moreover we supply various stations for free books throughout Berlin. In creating jobs and apprenticeships for people from various social backgrounds – from former homeless people to young professionals – we try to give people new perspectives.
