About the volunteering opportunity
In cooperation with the Stuttgart City Library, the Caleidoskop volunteer center and Stuttgart's educational partnerships, a new project has been launched: the Learning Lounge!
What is that? The learning lounge offers pupils from all types of schools (grades 3 to school-leaving certificate) a quiet learning space for homework, project work or exam preparation. The study room is supervised by at least two volunteers. The volunteers are there to answer general questions, ensure that everyone can work in peace and quiet and help, for example, with searching for information on the subject matter in the library or using AI tools. The aim is to offer students a quiet and supervised learning atmosphere that promotes self-learning skills. The project also aims to strengthen educational equality.
The learning room in the Zuffenhausen district library is initially open on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Volunteers do not need any previous experience. An interest in working with children and young people and an open ear for their concerns are prerequisites.

Your Tasks
Support with learning questions
- Answering general questions from students.
- Assistance in searching for information, e.g. in the library.
- Support in using digital tools, e.g. AI tools.
Promoting a positive learning atmosphere
- Ensure that peace and concentration are maintained.
- Motivating students and strengthening their self-learning skills.
General support
- Show interest, have an open ear for students.
- Provide support without special subject knowledge.
