Support wanted: Language and learning support
Would you like to help someone learn German? We are looking for committed people for our learning support! Get in touch with us if you:

Speak German well and enjoy the language.
- Are happy to help with learning (for example with homework or exercises).
- Are patient and want to explain things to other people.
- Would like to volunteer and help directly.
Your Tasks
Homework help: Doing schoolwork together or reading texts for work/training.
Practicing speaking: Simply talking about everyday life to lose the fear of speaking.
Learning vocabulary: Write down new words and explain their meaning.
Understanding texts: Reading and understanding letters from the office, emails or newspaper articles together.
Practicing pronunciation: Reading words out loud and practicing the correct intonation.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Good knowledge of German: You should speak German confidently and understand texts well.
Enjoy explaining things: Patience and enjoy imparting knowledge (e.g. when doing homework).
Empathy: Openness to people with different backgrounds.

On weekdays, during the day
we are looking for support for 1 to 2 hours, ideally once or several times a week. We can arrange the exact days and times flexibly - depending on how it fits into your schedule.
Important notice
The volunteers do not have to be "professional teachers". The main aim is to provide confidence in speaking and make everyday life easier through language practice. Respectful interaction at eye level is particularly important to us

Since 25.06.2016, Albatros gGmbH has been operating the community accommodation for refugees. The GU Gehrenseestr. with a capacity for 200 people almost exclusively accommodates families from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
