About the volunteering opportunity
We are looking for volunteers and refugees for our project: Your neighborhood, your everyday life!
Volunteers accompany refugees after they move in.
We provide support in everyday life for six months:

We provide support in everyday life for six months:
- with organizational and bureaucratic issues
- speaking German
- getting to know the new neighborhood
- finding your way around the new apartment
At the end there is a certificate of participation.
Your Tasks
- regular meetings in the neighborhood for six months (e.g. every 2 weeks for 90 minutes)
- Participation in training
- Voluntary: participation in group meetings, volunteer meetings, supervision

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
For volunteers who want to support refugees:
- very good knowledge of German
- confident handling of smartphones, messengers/emails, online appointments
- Reliability
- Communication skills

The Housing Contact Point has been advising and supporting refugees in their search for their own housing in Leipzig and answering questions about tenancies since 2016. Our services counteract structural barriers such as language, bureaucracy and racial discrimination on the housing market.
