About the volunteering opportunity
What is it all about? Düsseldorf should become more climate-resilient - and you can help! We at Pro Düsseldorf e.V. are committed to a greener, more liveable city. Our watering can hero Thomas is putting his heart and soul into convincing property owners to install rainwater collection containers and needs support to promote the sponge city idea in Düsseldorf.
The sponge city idea is simple and ingenious: cities should absorb rainwater like a sponge, store it and release it again when it gets hot - instead of channeling it into the sewage system. This protects against flooding, cools the city and nourishes trees and green spaces. This is exactly what we want to further develop and help shape in Düsseldorf.
Your Tasks
- Jointly develop concepts and campaigns for the installation of IBC containers, foldable containers, which Thomas is currently testing, and locations for rainwater banks.
- Raising awareness of the issue among citizens and neighborhoods
- Participate in events and campaigns organized by Pro Düsseldorf e.V
- Networking with other initiatives, administration and committed people in the city
What do you bring with you?
- Enthusiasm for climate adaptation, urban greenery or water management - specialist knowledge is not a must!
- A desire to make a difference together with others
- A little time and a lot of motivation
