About the volunteering opportunity
The stage is yours! Amateur musicians and helping hands wanted for the supporting program of a unique accordion exhibition. From June 2026 in six Berlin shopping centers.
Music in a shopping center can be something special - if you make it yourself. This year you have the chance to do so: Six major Berlin shopping centers are making free spaces available for your music - as part of the exhibition "600 accordions. Your stories. Our Berlin." You can play, sing or dance surrounded by the most beautiful instruments from an extraordinary Berlin accordion collection. In cooperation with the Handelsverband Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. (HBB), the Landesmusikrat Berlin is making this cultural and historical treasure accessible to all Berliners in 2026.
And there's plenty of program to go with it. By you, for you. For the neighborhood, for passers-by, for children and young people, families, strollers, onlookers.
Your Tasks
How you can take part:
- As an amateur musician: All musical genres and cultures are welcome - folk, jazz, musette, Balkan - as long as the accordion plays an important role. Dance tango, sing your songs to the accordion. You can play alone, as a duo or in small ensembles with up to five musicians. Without amplification and with your own instruments
- As a storyteller: Bring your stories about the instrument of the year - the accordion - as a printed text and read them out. We will provide pinboards for the collection of texts.
you can talk about your experiences with the accordion, about memories and goosebump moments.
- As a helper: You prefer to stay backstage? Wonderful. There are many ways to support this unique community project: As an assistant in setting up and dismantling the exhibitions, as a supervisor during the mini-concerts and performances.
- No matter what you contribute, it is essential that you register in advance using our tool.

The Landesmusikrat Berlin acts as an umbrella organization for music institutions and associations in Berlin and represents the interests of over 600,000 people from all areas of musical life. A particular focus is on the promotion of musical education for both young people and adults. The Landesmusikrat represents the music policy interests of its members, coordinates their activities and advises the Senate and the parties in the Berlin House of Representatives on music-related matters.
