About the volunteering opportunity
Twice a week in the evenings, the Medi-Team provides medical care to homeless people at the emergency shelter at the container terminal. Common health issues include wounds, parasitic infestations, and injuries. The emergency shelter is open year-round and can accommodate 70 guests. In addition to a safe place to stay, it provides meals, social services, and emotional support.
Your Tasks
Activity: As part of the medical consultation hours, you will take over the medical management of the shift and work closely with dedicated medical students. Your tasks will include the examination and treatment of homeless, sick people, including the care of wounds and, if necessary, the organization of hospital admission. You will make decisions about the application of therapy and the administration of medication to ensure optimal medical care.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Prerequisites: You are a licensed physician. You can communicate well in German and English and knowledge of Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian or Russian is an advantage but not a requirement. The minimum age for this volunteer position is 18 years.

Time Commitment: We’d like you to volunteer on a regular basis—for example, once a month, depending on what we agree upon and your availability.
When: Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
