About the volunteering opportunity

From fall 2026, we will be setting up a new volunteer support service in interdisciplinary multimodal pain therapy for children and adolescents. Young patients with chronic pain, who often experience psychosocial stress and challenges at school during their stay in hospital lasting several weeks, will be supported.

Dedicated volunteers are needed to give time, provide support in everyday life and act as a reliable contact person - e.g. for schoolwork, discussions or leisure activities. The aim is to promote well-being, participation and positive everyday experiences during the stay.

Your Tasks

- Accompaniment and support with school materials - Leisure and activity activities (games, creative activities, discussions) - Motivation and social support during the therapy stay motivation and social support during the therapy stay - Promotion of participation and well-being - Contact person in everyday life and supportive presence

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Enjoy working with children and young people (8-18 years, sometimes older) older) - Empathy, patience and an appreciative attitude - Ability to get in touch with troubled young people - Sensitivity in dealing with psychosocial stress and chronic illnesses - Emotional stability and reliability, assertiveness - Resilience in challenging situations - Ability to recognize and professionally maintain boundaries - Openness to guidance and cooperation in a multi-professional team
- Experience in working with children and young people - Initial experience in the psychosocial, educational or health sector - Interest in pain therapy, mental health or clinical work - Creativity and flexibility in organizing contacts and activities Experience in learning support or support with school tasks

The assignments take place after the regular therapy program in the afternoon from 15:30h/16:00h or in the early evening and on weekends. Regular assignments are desirable, e.g. if you could take over a fixed weekday.
