About the volunteering opportunity
support families with young children - as a wellcome volunteer
Do you enjoy working with babies and children? Would you like to work flexibly and support families in an important phase of their lives? Then wellcome is the right place for you.
Do you enjoy working with babies and children? Would you like to work flexibly and support families in an important phase of their lives? Then wellcome is the right place for you.
As a wellcome volunteer, you will give young families time, relief and a sympathetic ear. For this commitment, we are looking for reliable, open-minded people who want to support families with heart and empathy.
With your commitment, you will provide families with valuable support and help them to cope with everyday life a little more easily.
Your Tasks
As a wellcome volunteer, you provide families with practical, everyday support. Your possible tasks include, for example
- a walk with the baby,
- playing and keeping a sibling occupied,
- accompanying a mother or father to appointments, for example at the pediatrician,
- or simply providing a little relief in everyday family life.
You do not take on household tasks or childcare in the professional sense, but give time, attention and support on an equal footing. Your commitment helps parents to recharge their batteries and make everyday family life a little more relaxed. All support is individually tailored to the needs of the family and is provided in close consultation with the wellcome coordinator.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Well accompanied - even without special previous knowledge
You don't need any special professional training or qualifications to get involved with wellcome. Much more important are your life experience, your enjoyment of working with families and children and your willingness to accompany young parents on their journey.

During your assignment, you will be supported and accompanied by the wellcome team coordinator. If you have any questions or challenges, you will always have a permanent contact person at your side. In addition, free, voluntary online seminars are available to you, which offer interesting suggestions for your voluntary work and create space for exchange with other volunteers.
What is important to us: reliability, openness, empathy and respectful treatment of the families. We also expect confidentiality and a sense of responsibility when dealing with personal information.
To protect the families and children, we require an extended police clearance certificate from all volunteers. This can be applied for free of charge with a corresponding letter from wellcome. You will receive all the relevant information in a personal meeting with the team coordinator.
Time required
Regularly
Discussed individually
On weekdays, on weekends, during the day
Your voluntary work with wellcome depends on your time available. Together with the family and the wellcome coordinator, it is agreed individually when and how often the support can take place. As a rule, volunteers visit a family about once or twice a week for two to three hours.
The focus here is on flexibility: you decide how much time you want to and can contribute. The aim is a commitment that fits in well with your everyday life and is enjoyable. Supporting a family usually lasts a few months, sometimes up to a year. You can then support another family if you wish.
The result is reliable, yet uncomplicated support for families and a volunteer position that is tailored to your abilities.
Important notice
Volunteering should give you pleasure and not be a financial burden. Therefore, any costs incurred, such as travel expenses, will be reimbursed.
