About the volunteering opportunity
Start with a Friend e.V. (SWAF) brings together people with and without an immigrant background. Through one-on-one pairings and group events, we foster connections, friendships, and a stronger community.
Our Tübingen chapter was on hiatus for a while and is currently being reestablished. We’re looking for dedicated people who are eager to join us in building an open and diverse community in Tübingen.
Your Tasks
Depending on your interests and availability, you can help us in various areas:
- Community building: Getting to know people, making connections, and helping to reach new participants for our tandem program
- Event organization: Helping to plan and carry out community events, information sessions, and meetups
- Networking: Establishing contacts with local clubs, initiatives, cafés, or other venues in Tübingen
- Social Media & Public Relations: Helping to promote our events and reach new people
- Contributing ideas: Use your own ideas and experiences to help shape SWAF Tübingen

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.

Start with a Friend e.V.
Start with a Friend connects immigrants and locals in tandems based on interests and needs. Ideally, a friendship develops out of this, but in any case, a social network is created that makes it easier for immigrants to have a good start in Germany. Start with a Friend accompanies and advises the tandems after the matching and organises events to bring the tandems into contact with each other. It is also important to us to create structures in which people can get involved, even if they are tied up in their work and family life. The time schedule is therefore flexible; further training courses are offered but are optional. So far, Start with a Friend is available in 21 cities nationwide.
