A volunteer role that fosters closeness and builds trust.

Some people don’t need big events or a packed schedule—they just need someone who will spend time with them, listen to them, and keep their interests in mind. That’s exactly why we’re looking for a volunteer support person.

In this assisted living community, seven people with dementia live together in a family-like atmosphere. Each person brings their own story, habits, and personality—and that’s exactly what we embrace here. Those who want to sleep in a little longer in the morning are welcome to do so. Those who get up early start the day together with a cup of coffee. The team takes the time to tailor daily routines to the residents’ needs.

As a support person, you are not a caregiver and do not provide day-to-day care. You give residents your attention, listen to their concerns, and help them express their wishes and interests.

You don't need any special prior knowledge for this. What's important is an interest in older adults, an open-minded attitude, reliability, and a willingness to volunteer regularly (preferably 2 hours per week). The volunteer coordination office will prepare you for your role and provide support throughout your volunteer work.
