About the volunteering opportunity
"Hope in Your Luggage " brings young refugees and confirmation candidates together in conversation. Through personal stories of flight, hope, and new beginnings, genuine connections are formed that break down prejudices and open our eyes to one another. As a young volunteer (ages 18–25), you’ll facilitate encounters on an equal footing, set an example of solidarity, and support a project that promotes integration, gratitude, and mutual learning. Together, we’ll create hope and a strong sense of community.
Your Tasks
Specifically, this involves participating in an international project group (October 2026 – April 2027). Together with your project team, you’ll plan a workshop and lead it on several dates. The focus will be on sharing your hopes for the future, your motivation for coming to Germany, and, if applicable, your experiences and the story of your journey as a refugee. You’ll be part of a team guided by a student from the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigsburg. You’ll contribute your creativity and motivation; you’ll practice German and communication skills in a real-world setting, and your responsibilities will include coordinating with the team and pastors, arranging the venue, and organizing catering, materials, and technical equipment for the workshop.
