Crafts, painting, and playing with children at a shelter for the homeless

Children from preschool age through elementary school age enjoy arts and crafts, painting, and playing games (both indoors and outdoors).

You’ll contribute creative ideas and suggestions for doing crafts, painting, and playing with the children. Your support helps the children expand their vocabulary and strengthen their social skills as they play together. From time to time, mothers of children in daycare also join in, discovering and strengthening their bonds with one another so they can support each other at the homeless shelter.

We are launching this program for the first time. We’ll start on Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. With your dedication, you’ll be part of it from the very beginning and will actively help shape the program.

Working with children and adolescents requires you to submit a current (< 3 months) extended police background check. We’ll help you apply for it and obtain it free of charge.
You’ll regularly communicate with the social services team and receive support for your volunteer work. We want you to feel comfortable and enjoy contributing your time.
