About the volunteering opportunity
At our nursing home, we’re looking for volunteers to accompany residents on walks around the neighborhood.
The walks include a 58-year-old resident with dementia and two 85-year-old female residents. In addition to getting some exercise, the main goal is to spend time together, chat, and keep the residents company.
Your Tasks
- Accompaniment on walks around the neighborhood
- Support and guidance during the walk
- Conversations and interaction with residents
- Paying attention to the residents’ needs during the walk
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Advanced German language skills (C1/C2)
- Good communication skills and a love of conversation
- Empathy and patience when interacting with older adults
- Reliability and a love of physical activity
- Sensitivity when interacting with people with dementia
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 1 hour per week.
On weekdays, during the day
Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Important notice
The walks take place in the immediate vicinity of the nursing home.
