Queer Education in Bielefeld's schools

SCHLAU Bielefeld is an educational and anti-discrimination project. We offer volunteer-led workshops on gender, sexual, and romantic diversity for schools, sports clubs, and youth groups in Bielefeld. At the heart of the SCHLAU workshops are encounters and conversations between young people and our lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, non-binary, inter*, asexual, aromantic, and queer team members.

SCHLAU Bielefeld is a local group of the SCHLAU NRW network and is sponsored by Falken Bielefeld.

> Mandatory participation in two trainings where you'll learn everything about the workshops
> Attend team meetings twice a month
> Planning, conducting, and debriefing workshops as  a team
> Participation in information booths and events such as the CSD (rarely)

All within the limits of your own available time

> Language that is sensitive to discrimination (or a desire to improve in this area)
> Own queer background and the willingness to talk openly with young people about it
> Previous experience working with young people is preferred, but not required
> An intersectional understanding of discrimination (people can be affected by multiple forms of discrimination; some forms of discrimination intersect) 

The required trainings is conducted in two modules and last 2.5 days each. Currently, two of those days are in-person in a city in NRW, and half a day is online.

Workshops are always conducted by at least two people. Workshops take place throughout Bielefeld and participants must make their own way to the venues.

The organizing body has a fleet of vehicles available.

Every workshops is compensated with 35€. Travel costs are covered as well.

We're looking for volunteers aged 16 to 30.

There's regular networking and educational offers for the team, at NRW level and around Germany.
