About the volunteering opportunity
Would you like to volunteer and use your knowledge to make a difference? At StudyTutors, you support a child or young person from a disadvantaged background by providing free, regular tutoring.
You will usually support your student for about one hour per week, helping them overcome challenges at school, understand learning content and become more confident in their abilities.
Tutoring sessions are arranged individually between you and your student. Ideally, you will support the same student over a longer period of time so that you can build trust and make progress together.
Your Tasks
- Provide tutoring for about one hour per week
- Support your student according to their individual learning needs
- Explain school subjects and practise together
- Be a reliable and consistent contact person for your student
- Optional: take part in activities or outings together
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Motivation to support children and young people
- Patience and reliability
- Enjoyment in explaining and sharing knowledge
- You are currently studying, completing vocational training or working, or have already completed your studies or vocational training
- Good German language skills
- You do not need previous teaching or tutoring experience.
Please note: As tutoring usually takes place in German and you will need to explain school subjects clearly, a good command of German is essential for this role.
Important information
After your initial meeting, you will need to apply for an extended certificate of good conduct (erweitertes Führungszeugnis). There are no costs for you, and we will explain how to apply.

Regularly
