About the volunteering opportunity
For our project “Diversity Connects: Europe at the Family Center,” we are looking for volunteers who speak a European language as their native or first language and would like to share it with children and families. As part of a weekly storytime program, volunteers can read stories in their language and discover new words together with the children. In addition, they’ll help out with our monthly “Europe Afternoons,” during which we feature a different European country each time with stories, games, creative activities, and small local specialties. Volunteers can contribute their own ideas, traditions, and experiences, thereby fostering curiosity, cultural exchange, and a sense of community.
Your Tasks
- Reading Stories Aloud in a European Language
- Discover new words together with children
- Helping out at the monthly “Europe Afternoons”
- Helping to organize stories, games, and creative activities
- Contributing your own ideas, traditions, and experiences
- Introducing children and families to European diversity
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
- A European language as a native or first language
- Enjoys interacting with children and families
- An interest in sharing your own language, culture, and experiences
- Willingness to actively participate in the programs

On weekdays, during the day
The storytime sessions take place weekly. In addition, there are monthly "Europe Afternoons." The specific duration can be arranged by mutual agreement.
