About the volunteering opportunity
In our mentoring project, we connect people in one-on-one pairs. We’re looking for people who want to support those with refugee or migration backgrounds and help them adjust to a new environment. The focus is primarily on improving language skills, preparing for a high school diploma or vocational training, as well as fostering personal connections and shared activities.

Your Tasks
We are looking for someone to help a 17-year-old who lives in Wedding and attends a welcome class with his math homework and studying.
Since the young man does not yet have sufficient German language skills, the math tutoring should take place in English or French.
The regular sessions could take place, for example, at the Schiller Library on Leopoldplatz.
On school days, times starting at 2:30 p.m. work best for the student. A later time is also possible.
Ideally, meetings would take place twice a week. However, he would be very happy even with a regular meeting once a week.

The MARIE Engagement Office is the contact point for volunteering at AWO Berlin Kreisverband Südost e.V.
We advise interested parties on the opportunities and framework conditions for volunteering in the district association's facilities and projects.
We place interested volunteers in a suitable placement.
We offer volunteers:

Our facilities are located in the Berlin districts of Neukölln, Lichtenberg, Reinickendorf and Treptow-Köpenick.
