Bring your old cell phone to the collection point
vostel.de
- 5 Minute Volunteering
- Zero Waste
About the volunteering opportunity
In many households, old cell phones, charging cables, and headphones lie unused in drawers. Yet they contain valuable raw materials such as copper, gold, and rare metals, the mining of which often takes a heavy toll on people and the environment. When you turn in your old electronics, these materials can be recycled and reused.
Your Tasks
- Check your drawers for old cell phones, cables, or other small electronic devices.
- Back up any important data and reset your cell phone to factory settings.
- Drop off the devices at a collection point, such as an electronics store, a supermarket, or a recycling center.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.
You don't need any special qualifications to get involved—just a few minutes to sort through things.
Time required
Once
5 minutes to pick up and prepare. You can easily pick it up the next time you go shopping.
Important notice
Larger supermarkets and electronics retailers are required to accept small electronic devices for free, even if you aren't making a new purchase. If your device still works, you can also donate it or resell it so it can have a second life.

We are a social enterprise from Berlin with a big dream: We want a world in which everyone contributes to a better and more sustainable future according to their possibilities and regardless of time budget, language or previous knowledge. For this purpose, we gather on vostel.de numerous engagement offers from non-profit organizations that are looking for volunteers. By doing this, we show concrete possibilities for action in order to become socially active and would like to motivate above all the younger generations to get involved for a better world.
