About the volunteering opportunity
Some of our elementary school students find reading more difficult than others. To provide them with targeted support as they practice, we’re looking for reading mentors who can help individual children with their reading during class. Sometimes you’ll read, sometimes your mentee will—and together, you’ll explore the world of letters!
Your Tasks
We are looking for dedicated volunteers who will help individual elementary school students with reading, showing plenty of patience and empathy. In consultation with the teacher, volunteers will take turns reading aloud to one another in a quiet atmosphere.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
As a reading mentor, you should have a lot of patience and empathy for students with learning difficulties. Reliability and a sense of responsibility are just as important.
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 2 hours per week.
On weekdays, during the day
The reading program takes place in the mornings, alongside regular classes. A specific time is scheduled in consultation with the teacher in charge. There are no reading program sessions during school breaks.
Important notice
An extended criminal background check is required for volunteer work at our schools. We can apply for this free of charge to help you get started.
