About the volunteering opportunity

Not everyone has the same opportunities. As a mentor at "PaSch - Patenschaften für Schulkinder", you help a primary school child in Wedding to find their way. At the same time, you are also helping to combat discrimination and everyday racism.

Many of our mentees come from socially and educationally disadvantaged families. The volunteer mentors give the children time and attention and support them as adult friends. The mentors and mentees meet about once a week for 2-3 hours. Then they explore Berlin together, do homework, are creative, play sports or music... Both get to know a new world.

At PaSch, we bring mentors and mentees together and organize group outings from time to time. We accompany the mentorship with exchange and information evenings for the mentors and our staff are on hand to answer questions and help with challenges.

Your Tasks

Your task is to regularly spend time with your mentee, to organise leisure time together, to share a piece of everyday life and to be there as a reference person. You broaden your perspective through contact with your mentee and his or her family and have the opportunity to take responsibility and become a role model. Make a difference in the life of your mentee!

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You should enjoy being with children and have the openness to get involved with your mentee. A successful mentorship also requires reliability.
