About the volunteering opportunity

Our organization provides a wide range of assistance in many places in Cologne for people who experience poverty, social disadvantage and exclusion and whose participation in society is hindered or at risk. Help is available in all areas of life.

Your Tasks

You support the users of the contact and advice centers for homeless people in Cologne at the main train station, Ehrenfeld train station or in Roggendorf/Thenhoven.

The aims of this service are:
  • Low-threshold access to digital education
  • The promotion of digital skills
  • Strengthening self-determination and independence
  • Reducing barriers and fears when dealing with digital devices and processes
Experts from the contact and advice centers are on hand to help you with organizational and technical questions. You can also help set up and develop the project and benefit from training and project meetings.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
  • extended certificate of good conduct required
  • you would like to contribute your individual digital skills
  • open in contact with homeless people
  • no expectations and no pity for those affected

On weekdays, during the day
  • Volunteering gladly 1 x per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • City center and Ehrenfeld probably between 1 and 3:30 pm
  • in Roggendorf by arrangement

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
