About the volunteering opportunity
The AWO project "Veedel für alle" is aimed at Turkish-speaking senior citizens.
Your Tasks
We are looking for speakers for German and Turkish-speaking senior citizens to give talks on health-specific topics such as healthy eating, dealing with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and dementia, as well as many other topics such as:
- How can I protect myself from criminals?
- What emergency call options are there?
- Living wills and health care proxies - what do they mean and how do I deal with them?
The presentations can be offered in German or in Turkish.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
- Age (at least) 18 years
- simple certificate of good conduct required
- Openness, empathy and sensitivity in dealing with senior citizens
- German and Turkish language skills

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
