Primary school children from Garching are each supported by one volunteer from the surrounding area through the "KinderHelden in München" project. Children who grow up with difficult starting conditions often have numerous challenges to overcome - the more important it is to support these children individually and with heart.
Through our joint project they get a mentor who takes them by the hand for a while so that they can take their life into their own hands and improve their educational opportunities.
The adults support the children at school, do homework together and learn together. They support the children in their language skills, reading and arithmetic or with their homework and also in the very practical everyday education. The school premises are reserved for this purpose for the first four meetings, after which other public spaces can also be visited. The times can be arranged flexibly with the child.
Most of these meetings take place in person and 1:1 (depending on how it is going to develop with Corona, this is also possible digitally), but group activities (e.g. museum visits) are also planned for the long term.
An extended police clearance certificate must be presented before the first personal meeting with the child. This is available free of charge with our volunteer application form, and you will also take part in a selection and qualification process before you can actively start mentoring.
Under the motto "Heroes, as children need them", KinderHelden offers high-quality mentoring programs with professional guidance for children and young people. Children with difficult starting conditions receive holistic support with heart and mind from a volunteer mentor.
