About the volunteering opportunity

The Leseheimat Stuttgart is a branch project of the Leseohren (Reading Ears) and is focused on the reading and language development of refugee children. The positive side effects that reading aloud can have on the children are also significant. The attention and dedication during the reading lessons helps the children to feel safe and secure. In a relaxed atmosphere the children should gradually feel "at home" in the foreign language.

Your Tasks

The reading mentors read aloud at regular intervals in the institution for small groups of refugee children. Through songs, rhythm, sound and the joint viewing of books, a language pool is to be created, which, in addition, enables rapid (language) success. The volunteers awaken the children's interest in language and books through reading aloud in a loving environment.
