Motivate and support children and adults in learning German

With us you can support people with a migration background (refugees and/or people who have been living in Germany for a longer period of time) in learning German. Everyone who has already learned a foreign language knows how difficult it is to continuously improve their language skills if they cannot actively use the language they have learned regularly. Many people with a migration background do not have the opportunity to speak German in everyday life. This sounds strange at first sight, but it corresponds to reality. If you would like to practice German with someone once a week, just get in touch with us!

Your Tasks

Support in learning German: e.g. practicing active speaking, reading, writing or grammar exercises, explaining vocabulary and motivating people to speak German. We are looking for supporters for children, young people and adults.

What's needed

Very good German language skills are important but you don't have to be afraid that you won't be able to explain the difficult German language, because most of the time it is only important to explain the right word and to correct it in a friendly but consistent way. A smile and a small dose of good humour will make the rest run smoothly :-).

An extended certificate of good conduct must be presented before placement in voluntary work.

The IG was founded in 1971 by committed Munich citizens to help people with a newcomer background to have equal opportunities at school and at work. The project "Civic Engagement for Integration" arranges for volunteers to help children, young people and adults with difficulties at school and in training, to help them learn German and to help them integrate into working life. The support takes place in individual or group care and is carried out at home with the families or in the various IG projects.
