About the volunteering opportunity

As a volunteer host family, you have the opportunity to host a student from the USA, Italy or Colombia for 3, 5 or 10 months. You can look forward to new perspectives and a shared sense of achievement with your host child. We are always available to help and advise you. A trained volunteer living near you will be in regular contact with you and your host child during the programme. Our full-time staff can also be contacted by you. During their stay, host students also have comprehensive health, accident and liability insurance.
Our guest students are just as open-minded and curious as you are. That's why any family can host a guest child. It doesn't matter where they live or how they are made up. We are happy about every family constellation!

Your Tasks

The exchange students are an integral part of the family for the duration of their stay and should be actively involved in family life, including all the responsibilities that go with it. The student will therefore be a new part of your everyday life.

What's needed

Volunteers must be native German speakers.

We have three criteria that a host family must fulfil in any case:
- SPACE: Basically, a bed of your own and a desk for studying are adequate.
- HONESTY: As a non-profit association, it is important to us that our host families act out of cultural rather than financial interest.
- INTEGRATION: As a host family, you should treat your host student like a member of your own family - with all rights and responsibilities.
Host students have pocket money from which they pay for leisure activities or cosmetics, for example. As a volunteer host family, you pay for the board and lodging of the host children.
