About the volunteering opportunity

For our project Hürdenspringer BERLIN we are looking for people who want to get involved as mentors.

As a mentor, you will support students from grades 8-10 of our cooperation schools in Tempelhof, Kreuzberg and Neukölln (integrated secondary schools).

In 1:1 mentoring, you will accompany a student with the goal of improving school grades, preparing for graduation and developing a follow-up perspective for the period after graduation.

Your Tasks

The topics that you deal with in tandem result from the needs of the mentees. The focus would be on the following topics:

  • Helping with orientation to education and training opportunities and support in the application phase for internships, training or studies
  • Support in improving school performance
  • Common leisure activities

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

You are between 25 and 75 years old and would like to commit yourself for about one year (1-2 hours per week)? You will be prepared for your task in a comprehensive introductory training.

In mentoring, you will also be closely accompanied and professionally supported by our full-time project coordinators.

  • die Tandemtreffen finden 1x in der Woche statt und dauern ca. 1 1/2 Stunden. Ort, Uhrzeit und Tag des Treffens wird individuell in den Tandem festgelegt
