About the volunteering opportunity
The "Oma-Opa-Vermittlung" is about the long-term development of a loving relationship between godparents and families/single parents with child(ren). Senior citizens can enjoy the connection to the family and find a fulfilling task in volunteering. Parents or single parents can share their responsibility for the child with someone and benefit from the wealth of experience of the godparents.
In advance, we hold detailed discussions with the families and the senior citizens and organise the placement. If there are any questions or problems, we are there to advise. We offer a thank-you party and a regular exchange of experiences for godparents. Foster grandparents are covered by accident and liability insurance and can take part in further training courses at our centre.
How exactly the commitment takes place is organised between the godparents and the families themselves.
Your Tasks
The godparents take on tasks like "conventional" grandparents. The planning for joint activities is organised by the participants. They consult with each other.
The activities range from eating ice cream together, visiting the playground, building Lego, baking, reading aloud, solving crossword puzzles, to picking up children from kindergarten, making jam or helping with schoolwork. The aim is to have fun together and relieve the parents.
What's needed
For this offer we would like volunteers who have experience in dealing with children/grandchildren and who are willing to cooperate with the parents of the godchildren.
You should have empathy for this volunteer work, be flexible and agile in order to be able to respond to the wishes of the families and children.
A police clearance certificate is a prerequisite for the commitment.
Time required
Important notice
Volunteers absolutely need an extended certificate of good conduct from the police for their work.
We bear the costs.
Of course, we have an internal hygiene concept that is applied throughout the house and applies to all areas, including the grandma-grandpa placement. We treat each other with care, keep our distance, and also pay attention to external guests who, for example, must wear at least a medical face mask during their stay on the grounds and in the buildings of the SkF, who disinfect their hands before entering the house, and whose contacts we record if they are in the house for longer than 15 minutes.
