About the volunteering opportunity
As a DigitalAid coach, you support young refugees in coping with their increasingly digital everyday lives. This is because some refugees find it difficult to organize their lives digitally. During the pandemic, they are therefore excluded from digital learning opportunities, for example. As DigitalAid coaches, you help to close these knowledge gaps and empower people to navigate their increasingly digital everyday lives.
Your Tasks
As a digital coach, you can help with the following digital challenges:
- Communication by email, e.g. with an office
- Zoom and other video communication tools
- Online job platforms
- Making online appointments with public offices
- Use of search engines
- Use of language learning apps
- Use of home schooling programs
- Using other learning portals for children and adults
- Optimizing the use of digital devices
- Backing up important data
- Sending PDFs
Volunteers are trained by ArrivalAid and prepared for their assignments as Digital Aid coaches. The target group is young refugees aged between 14 and 19. The assignments are carried out in the refugees' accommodation and can take place either in 1:1 mentoring sessions or in small groups of up to 4 people, depending on the arrangement.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Of course, you should be fit in the use of common Microsoft programs and be proficient in the use of online tools such as Zoom. Basically, you don't need any special qualifications to become an online coach. If you are confident in the tasks described above, anyone can become active with us.
Time required
Project-based
A coaching session lasts 2 to 6 weeks, depending on your needs. You should have about 2 hours per week for the project.
