For our work with senior citizens we are looking for help:
in the area around the house:
Volunteers to help older people with household chores. When you get older, everything often becomes too much: the household, the gardening or the shopping. Then it is good and sensible to get help from outside, e.g. when the strength slowly decreases in old age. That is why the Trudering Family Centre has the project of household services. This makes life easier for old, sick and disabled people in their own household or enables them to remain in their own four walls. The offer extends mainly to Trudering/Riem and includes cleaning, laundry and ironing, shopping and cooking. If you want to get involved socially, are fit and would like to earn some extra money, you are welcome - no matter at what age from 18 years - at the project Hilfe im Haus.
in the area of senior citizen mentors:
Volunteers who visit elderly people in Trudering who need help and contact. They devote their time to them and respond to their needs. Senior mentors are therefore an important supplement to family care and professional support services. They help older people to stay longer in their homes, to grow old there and to die there. Our senior mentors do not take on any nursing or domestic tasks. If you can imagine meeting older people, devoting time to them and exchanging ideas with them, you might be interested in this task, which is equally suitable for younger and older people. So if you have about 2 hours a week, understanding and an open ear for people in need of help and want to work in a dedicated team, you are perfect for us.
in the area of dementia helpers:
Volunteers who enjoy interacting with the elderly and have no fear of dementia. If you have 2 - 5 hours of time per week and would like to volunteer for an expense allowance, then perhaps our dementia helper circle is something for you! After a comprehensive training (at least 40 hours) on many different questions about the clinical picture of dementia, we place you as a dementia helper to relieve the relatives in affected families. At regular helper group meetings in the family centre, you will be accompanied and supported by our responsible staff members in your responsible task.
If you would like to work in one of our projects, please contact us or - if you are undecided - have a look at our
homepage.
Maybe you would prefer to get involved in the area of asylum? Then have a look
here.
Or is volunteering with younger people something for you? Then take a look at our activities for families and children. You will surely find a field of activity for you.
The tasks vary depending on which project you are interested in. The tasks can be very different. Our support ranges from help with household tasks to visiting services and visits to people with dementia.
You live in Munich and speak German almost fluently. You should have a desire to work with older people and have understanding and patience for this. Openness, interest in others and a good mood are important :) The ability to work in a team would not be bad either, although you will be working alone in some areas.
We are happy about everyone who wants to join us!
This commitment offer is for Munich residents only and volunteers who have at least advanced knowledge of German.
