About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for help within our dog placement division. The placement of animals from abroad and via our virtual animal hatch is one of three pillars on which we focus our animal welfare work.

The placement work is very versatile, responsible and time-consuming. In order to find the right home for our dogs, it is very important for us to carefully inform the potential families. In addition, we are the contact person for our partner organisations, pre-controllers, transporters and authorities. After a successful placement, we continue to provide our adopters with advice and support by telephone. We are looking for people who are willing to spend their free time to lay the foundation for dogs from previously bad conditions to move into a happy home in safety.

For this varied task we are looking for a committed helper.

Your Tasks

In the area of dog placement, the following tasks fall to our placement team:

  • Edit dog profiles: for new animal profiles to be uploaded, coordinate and formulate the descriptions of the dogs with the respective shelter partner. Store pictures for this in the Happy Cloud. Revise existing profiles, make updates
  • Correspondence work with potential adopters: process incoming adoption enquiries and applications (mostly initial enquiries via email).
  • Clarification and advice: informing interested parties and potential adopters about adoption, animal welfare etc. (clarification meetings always by telephone)
  • Organisation: Pre-and post-controls of the adopters; preparation of protection contracts
  • Communication: with interested parties, adopters, foster homes, mentors, animal shelters, veterinary offices and transporters, as well as with all interfaces in the team (including adopter care, public relations, etc.)
  • Master data maintenance: of adopters and animals (we work with the placement software petoffice)

  • you know dogs well and like dogs - we are a reliable partner for our interested parties, so you should have know how about dogs, behaviour, etc

Important notice

We always have people interested who initially want to help us, but then fail to complete their tasks. If you are applying to join us, please remember that our animal placement is a day-to-day operational business that exists throughout. We have a team in animal placement (separate dog and cat placements), you can agree and distribute tasks. In the animal placement we need a high degree of reliability, because it is not least a service. If you have between 5 and 7 hours a week for us, the work is good to do. More is also possible if you have the time. The work and coordination in the team is very important for us despite mainly virtual work - we are an association and live this. In case of regional proximity we also offer regular club meetings, where we see each other together and develop the club further. However, your cooperation is not regionally bound to the Rhine-Main area.

Where?

This project is location independent.

Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V.

We are a small animal welfare association in the Rhine-Main area that focuses on the protection of and help for cats and dogs in need. We work throughout Germany and with partner organisations in Spain. Our work is based on three main areas of education, spaying/neutering and animal placement/adoption and we work entirely on a voluntary basis.
