Volunteers needed to make sandwiches at the Bahnhofsmission am Zoo

The Bahnhofsmission is a contact point for anyone who needs help in the station area. This includes travelers in emergency situations as well as people with social or psychological difficulties. Many of our guests are non-German citizens, which results in an intercultural exchange. The Bahnhofsmission am Zoo is a so-called low-threshold facility that is open 365 days a year. Every day, we provide up to 600 people with food, drink and, in an emergency, clothing.

We are looking for volunteers to make and fill sandwiches. You will do this in a team with other full-time staff and volunteers. Music and friendly conversation create a lively atmosphere. The sandwiches you prepare are then distributed to our guests at the station mission by other employees.

Good knowledge of German, other languages such as Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian and Russian are very welcome. You will need a health pass, a so-called "Red Card", for this voluntary work. There are no costs for this. You should be vaccinated against tetanus and measles.
You are open and friendly and have empathy in dealing with our guests affected by poverty and homelessness.

We are looking for a long-term commitment, at least once a week for 2-3 hours per shift if possible. Mondays-Sundays. Mornings between 7.30-11.30 and afternoons from 17.00-21.00.

You are convinced that every person has an inalienable dignity. You are respectful of the Christian faith as well as other religions and world views.
