BerlinerBäumeWässerer: Do you have a heart for Berlin's city trees?

The residents' initiative BerlinerBäumeWässerer is not just about watering trees. The tree watering is about drawing attention to global climate change, global warming and the lack of rain. 
Every year, the importance of tree watering in the neighbourhood/Berlin is emphasized through creative hands-on activities in the neighbourhood/poster campaigns/booths in our Hufeisensiedlung/official trade fair booths. The focus is on the crown jewel of our two-part public park, the acacia grove, in which around 50 young trees are growing. A further 40 or so young trees are growing around the park in our estate. Encouragement is being sent out from the Hufeisensiedlung to do more for urban nature throughout Berlin. The tool for watering is a privately purchased 1-meter long, wide and robust handcart. It fits 6 watering cans of 10 liters each. The water is pumped up by two public water pumps. One young tree then receives 60 liters. Then the process is repeated. 
It is also about conveying to everyone the importance of trees and people in harmony. The Hufeisensiedlung without trees-or even Berlin without trees-is not possible. Bzm Martin Hikel presented two awards for the entire honorary office and a certificate from the President for Nature and Civil Protection. And to ensure that everything spreads online without bureaucracy, this public Facebook group BerlinerBäumeWässerer was designed in May 2020 with the topic of tree watering and climate change. The focus is also on climate fairs: the annual IHK trade fair BerlinerKlimaschutzPartner, BerlinerKlimaTag. Every year, the Berlin Half Marathon and, for the first time, the 50th Marathon 2024 in Berlin are run instead of glued to the streets. "Trees need water!". I am the only volunteer amateur runner to carry this appeal. Jochen Schmitz has become my press spokesman from the SCC for this campaign, and I have currently even been appointed Neukölln climate protection sponsor by the Neukölln district office and am active in klikks Berlin (climate protection in small communities and districts through volunteer climate protection sponsors).

Your Tasks

Pumping, pouring, photographing, sharing online on own social networks is desired. However, it must be individually ensured that only those people are to be seen who expressly want to do so. (Appeal of the responsible Sebastian Herges). It is now and then also press on the subject of tree irrigation on site.

What's needed

No prerequisites. The organizer Sebastian Herges does not tolerate Nazis/racism/sexism in any form on site starting from participants towards other volunteers/people/groups. Peaceful interaction among and with each other. It is paid attention to everything on site.

Everyone contributes as they see fit.

We are the two private persons Lukas Jülich from Teltow and Sebastian Haße from the Süd-neuköllner Hufeisensiedlung. Our actions we carry out locally to raise awareness on the long-term personnel shortage in the Neuköllner green space office/the global climatic change. The wish for the watering action is brought to the (Neukölln) politicians in order to develop solution-oriented, more efficient watering measures. One example is to create low-cost measures for the (long-term) unemployed in order to give them the feeling of being a part of society and, above all, of being needed in a meaningful way. The trees irrigation is also general education. Further actions follow now usually each first Saturday in the month from 11:30 o'clock to approx. 16:30 o'clock in the Kiez.

In order to make the topics heard effectively in the hectic everyday life, we founded our own public Facebook group for this purpose, titled: "Einzige öffentliche Facebook-Gruppe BerlinerBäumeWässerer".
