Support for refugees in finding accommodation

We are a shared accommodation in Berlin Tegel-Süd, and are very happy about volunteer help.

Some families have been living in the shared accommodation for up to 5 years - although they have long since "arrived" in Germany, they still do not have the opportunity to live in their own apartment, with their own bathroom and kitchen. Finding a place to live is already very difficult - for refugees it is even more difficult. That's why we are looking for motivated volunteers to help in the search for an apartment, correct emails, give tips, mediate, help with phone calls and give moral support to the families.

It is important not to lose courage, even if the first attempt doesn't work out right away. Searching for an apartment needs persistence and staying power. Previous experience is not necessary. The hours of work depend on the availability of the volunteers and the residents looking for accommodation. 2 hours per week would certainly be very helpful, but of course more is possible.

Together with cooperation partners, we are currently planning a mini-training on the topic of finding housing for refugees. Interested volunteers can learn valuable tips and tricks there, which they can then apply and pass on in their volunteer work. Hopefully, together we will succeed in fulfilling the refugees' wish for a home of their own.

Support in the search for housing offers, correct emails, give tips, mediate, help with phone calls, support the families morally, possibly accompany to appointments.

You should be able to speak good German - otherwise there are no prerequisites, except that you are motivated.

An extended certificate of good conduct is required.
