About the volunteering opportunity

In general, we have a variety of opportunities for voluntary work:

- supporting our public relations work by researching important developments on direct democracy around the world and writing articles for our newsletter, website, and content for our social media.
- Researching funding opportunities and drafting grant proposals.
- Supporting the body's ongoing campaigns by researching, drafting campaign copy and social media materials, and providing logistical support in advance of actions.
- Helping to build our new online platform
- Helping to update direct democracy country profiles for the Navigator to Direct Democracy.
- Help with the preparation and travel of our projects
- Logistical preparation and implementation of events.
- Help with contacting and coordinating with activists worldwide. Active research and contacting of activists.
- Support with editorial tasks, support of activists who want to publish an article on our platform.
- Support with translations (mostly English, German and French) or updating and maintaining contact lists

Time frame

The time frame depends on the volunteer. We would like to have a longer commitment, but shorter project-related periods are also possible.

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
