About the volunteering opportunity
Our organization in Cologne is dedicated to encouraging homeless people—who are among the most vulnerable members of society—to take back control of their lives and develop new prospects.
Your Tasks
Mobile assistance for the homeless, winter outreach, summer water outreach, events, assistance with government procedures, help with applications, one-on-one consultations, help for stray animals, and a self-help group coming soon

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Requirements
- Age (min.) 18 years
- Open to interacting with homeless people
- No preconceived expectations
- No pity for those affected
- Open to dogs / not afraid of dogs
- No allergies
- Class B driver’s license
- Knowledge of foreign languages is also welcome (Bulgarian, English, Polish, Romanian, or Russian)

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
