The reading aloud network "MINTKiDS" is looking for volunteer reading aloud mentors and we would be very happy if you make about 10 children of KiTA or primary school age curious about the phenomena of the MINT world by reading aloud exciting MINT stories for about 2h/week.
The core team will provide you with the best possible support for all tasks and preparations. We have summarized everything you need to know about the entire process in an "all-around carefree package". Explanation videos, media tips, regular ZOOM meetings to support you and to keep the entry threshold for your commitment low
Your tasks are: Search for a facility, coordinate organizational matters with the management, select story, plan appropriate follow-up action, read aloud.
Enjoyment in dealing with people, especially with children of kindergarten and elementary school age.
Intrinsic curiosity about the phenomena of the STEM world
No scientific training or studies!
Time commitment depending on your own possibilities. Time commitment consists of preparation, travel time and approx. 45 minutes reading time.
For the work with children and young people, an extended police certificate of good conduct is needed. This is provided to volunteers, with a certificate of the institution, free of charge.
Perceive and appreciate joy-beaming children's eyes after a reading hour !!
The volunteer initiative of STEM reading mentors aims to combine and strengthen the topics of reading, reading aloud while having fun, and STEM learning. Children at daycare and elementary school age read aloud exciting MINT stories such as "What happens during a volcanic eruption?" or "Why do the leaves change color in autumn?" to become little researchers.
The MINTKiDS start in Bonn to gain experience here and to learn. The concept can be extended to other cities as desired.More about the organisation
