About the volunteering opportunity

[U25] is an online counseling service for young people under the age of 25 in crisis and at risk of suicide. [U25] is a free and anonymous mail counseling service for young people at risk of suicide.

Would you like to volunteer? Learn something new and further your education? Are you between 16 and 25 years old, from Berlin and can you imagine training to become a volunteer crisis counselor with a focus on mail counseling? Then become a peer counselor at [U25] Berlin!

Your Tasks

In order to work as a volunteer crisis and peer counselor at [U25], you must complete a 3-month training course lasting a total of 32 hours.

The training takes place on 3 Saturdays and 7 evenings during the week at Caritas-Haus, Große Hamburger Straße 18, 10115 Berlin.
Contents of this training are mental illnesses, problems that occur during puberty (e.g. self-harming behavior, bullying, addiction, relationship problems, etc.), death and grief, various methods of mail counseling, introduction to talking to those affected and your own crises. Of course, we will support you and there will be supervision meetings every two weeks.

There are also group educational units to help the peers grow into a team. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 25 who is interested in online counseling can take part. No previous experience is necessary. The training is free of charge

The youngcaritas Berlin belongs to the Caritasverband für das Erzbistum Berlin e.V. and promotes young people's commitment. Our goal is to introduce young people to politically and socially "explosive" topics and to teach them a more attentive and conscious use of environmental resources, both through theoretical input and through practical implementation.
