About the volunteering opportunity

Children and young people have been particularly affected by the Corona pandemic. Many did not have ideal learning conditions during this time. Often the necessary technical equipment was missing and it was not always possible for the parents to handle the situation well at home. Social isolation, the loss of leisure activities and familiar daily routines, the absence of the usual learning environment, homeschooling and alternating classes - all this has left its mark.

Students now need support. The idea: volunteer learning mentors are to help children enjoy learning again and to ensure that possible social consequences and learning deficits are well addressed. A group of experienced pedagogues and life-experienced volunteers of the Forum Ehrenamt develops for this a program, which addresses itself primarily to primary school children and pupils of the Erprobungsstufe in the secondary schools. The program sets here on the switching of knowledge, in addition, on the structure of relations on time between learning mentors and mentees.

We look for volunteers, who accompany and support children once to twice per week regularly with learning. The learning opportunities are adapted to the needs of the children and range from reading promotion, help with language acquisition, support with deficits in a particular school subject or the teaching of learning techniques and learning behavior. The goal is sustainable volunteering - at the OGS, at school, at home, or even at another location.

Your Tasks

Honorary learning mentors are to help children to enjoy learning again and to deal with possible social consequences and learning deficits. A group of experienced pedagogues and life-experienced engaged ones of the Forum Ehrenamt develops for this a program that addresses itself primarily to primary school children and pupils of the Erprobungsstufe in the secondary schools. The program focuses on imparting knowledge, but also on building relationships for a limited period of time between learning mentors and students.
