About the volunteering opportunity

The Weit.Blick family and community center in Berlin-Lichtenberg offers a wide range of family education and support services as well as various activities for people in the neighborhood. These include a kindergarten, a church and a meeting café. Every Thursday, we offer a language café there to support people who want to learn German. In our language café, we promote the learning of German in a playful way - a place to meet, exchange ideas and learn together.

Your Tasks

Activity: Together with another volunteer, you organize and run the language café. You will prepare materials or use the materials provided by the full-time staff. You will work together with the team of full-time staff and volunteers and support the participants in learning German. Your tasks include free speech on everyday topics, playful learning and grammar units - always tailored to the interests of the group.

What's needed

Volunteers must be native German speakers.
What we are looking for: You enjoy leading groups and being involved in language teaching. You are friendly, open-minded and love contact with people. Intercultural encounters interest you and you enjoy getting to know new people, showing a genuine interest in others. You are also fluent in German and enjoy helping others to learn the language.

Requirements: the minimum age is 18 years. As our commitment also includes refugees, you will need an extended certificate of good conduct, the costs of which will be covered. Proof of measles vaccination is also required if you were born after 1970.

Time required

Regularly
Approx. 3 hours per week.
On weekdays, during the day
Time commitment: Once a week. We would like a regular commitment.

When: Thursday, 3:30-4:30 pm.
