Support Thembisile from South Africa as a host family in Dresden!

Thembisile is 24 years old and comes from Soweto, South Africa. From September 2022 she will support Freie Waldorfschule Dresden as a volunteer! 

Her hobbies are cooking and reading. She also enjoys meeting new people and listening to music in her spare time. In this video introduction to Thembisile!

As a host family you invite a volunteer to become part of your family and open the doors to your home to them. Volunteers bring their world with them and hope to learn about yours. 

Look forward to learning about new perspectives and brushing up on language skills a bit if necessary. Our volunteer mentors will be in contact and close communication with you and the volunteers throughout the year. Our volunteers are also comprehensively insured for health, accident and liability.

Your Tasks

Volunteers are an integral part of your family during their voluntary service and should be actively involved in family life, with all the rights and obligations that go with it. It is irrelevant how your family constellation is composed!

What's needed

Following three criteria, you should meet as a host family 

• An own room as a retreat, with everything that belongs to it.
• As a host family, you should allow the volunteers to participate in your family life, this takes time, patience and openness.
• As a non-profit organization, it is important to us that our host families act not out of financial, but out of cultural interest. As a host family you come up for the food and accommodation of the volunteers 

Time required

The volunteers stay in Germany for one year. If necessary, however, a commitment as a host family is also conceivable for a shorter period.

We strengthen social projects around the world and offer young people the opportunity to volunteer.
