Become a language mediator at a refugee shelter for Georgian

Not all residents living in refugee accommodations have German language skills. Language mediators translate during conversations in our social counseling and are a great help, so that the new residents living in Berlin can be better supported!

In addition to language mediation, common support needs are German courses / German tandem, training, job and housing search, accompaniment to offices, doctors or leisure activities, tutoring, etc..

Currently, almost half of the residents are from Russian-speaking countries, e.g. Moldova, Georgia and Russia, so there is an urgent need for volunteer language mediators!

Your Tasks

Language mediation on site at the accommodation or at an agreed meeting point. Occasionally or regularly in the accommodation, by phone or in writing - according to your possibilities and our needs

What's needed

Language skills of the respective languages and German knowledge

The youngcaritas Berlin belongs to the Caritasverband für das Erzbistum Berlin e.V. and promotes young people's commitment. Our goal is to introduce young people to politically and socially "explosive" topics and to teach them a more attentive and conscious use of environmental resources, both through theoretical input and through practical implementation. The goal of youngcaritas Berlin is to win as many young people as possible for voluntary work, be it for the youngcaritas projects "Kulturbuddys", *vergissmeinnicht* or through counselling and placement in various institutions and projects.
