About the volunteering opportunity
In our project "Hamwatan" we would like to establish mentorships between a German and an Afghan person or family. The aim of a mentorship is to support each other in everyday things or to learn from each other in different areas.
Your Tasks
This can take place, for example, in the form of a language exchange, joint intercultural cooking or simply through regular meetings in their free time.
Ideally, such meetings take place at eye level and this is also how it is communicated. However, it may of course be that the Afghan side needs a little more help due to the new living situation in Germany. In principle, the mentorship can be arranged freely. The only important thing is that you meet regularly and both parties feel comfortable.
Currently, a family is looking for a mentorship. Both parents are about 30 years old with an eight-year-old son living in Friedrichsfelde. Ideally, the German side would live nearby so that regular meetings can take place more easily.
What's needed
- Female, Age: 21-40 years
- Extended certificate of good conduct required
Time required
The meetings with the Afghan family are arranged by you, which makes you very flexible in terms of time. The only important thing is that you meet and preferably at regular intervals, so that closeness and trust can be built up.
