About the volunteering opportunity

The project Migration.macht.digitale.Medien brings people together regardless of their diverse backgrounds and shapes the digital space by addressing social, especially migration-specific issues.

The project creates podcasts, YouTube videos, Instagram reels and photo campaigns. Social and digital media will be specifically used with a critical stance towards racism in order to give marginalised groups as well as groups newly living in Germany the opportunity to bring their perspectives to the public. Interested people learn the necessary skills through creative workshops. Video and audio editing, photography courses or discrimination-sensitive photo reporting - all the necessary skills are learned in a playful way in seminar-based training.

In addition to the workshops, exchange meetings and excursions take place. Specialist conferences are attended, film screenings are organised and invitations are sent out for encounter trips.

The project is led by Silas Meyer. Silas is a social scientist with a B.A. and has been working in the context of political education and anti-discrimination work for several years.

Migration.macht.digitale.Medien is open to all people who are interested in digital media. Previous knowledge is not a prerequisite. We deliberately want to bring people with and without international biographies together.

Migration macht Gesellschaft e.V.

MIGRATION MACHT GESELLSCHAFT e.V. is a non-profit association that has existed since 1988 and until 2020 bore the name "Interkulturelles Forum".

The renaming of our association is based on an understanding of a SOCIETY shaped by MIGRATION. Based on this understanding, we also understand Munich as a city shaped by migration. The inclusion and exclusion mechanisms taking place in migration societies can only be adequately countered if the factor POWER is given central importance.

As an association that has POWER as a formative part of the MIGRATION shaped SOCIETY, we advocate for an inclusive urban society in which it is possible for all Munich people to participate in social life on an equal footing.

Due to a broad understanding of inclusion, which is the basis of our work, our offers are thus continuously aimed at reducing different forms of discrimination as well as their interaction, but are especially directed at Munich residents who experience racism on different levels.
