Mentors for Ukrainian orphans

We are looking for 1-to-1 mentors for orphans with disabilities in an evacuated Ukrainian children's home. Our goal is to facilitate the integration of these children and young people in Germany as well as to help them deal with the trauma they have experienced.

Your Tasks

As a mentor, you will visit your sponsored child about once a week in Ursberg and support him or her according to individual needs. You will build a respectful and loving relationship with him and spend fun and enjoyable hours with him. Whether playing, reading books aloud, painting or going for a walk - the activities depend on the interests of the child.

What's needed

• 22 years or older,
• Residence in the vicinity of Ursberg (e.g. in Augsburg, Günzburg, Ulm, Munich and the surrounding area),
• Desire to accompany a child or young person with a difficult fate on a long-term basis,
• time once a week to visit mentee in Ursberg (e.g. on weekends).

Beyond that:

• In addition, it is an advantage if you already have experience in dealing with children with disabilities.
• Knowledge of the Russian or Ukrainian language is helpful, but not a requirement - because playing and laughing are universally understood languages.
• Exclusion criterion: Persons who have been legally convicted of a criminal offense according to § 72a paragraph 1 sentence 1 SGB VIII cannot become mentors. Therefore, an inspection of the extended certificate of good conduct is required.

Day and time can be chosen flexibly.

We are committed to helping orphans in Eastern Eurasia. With a variety of projects, we support children in children's homes with health care, education and in life emergencies. Currently, our focus is primarily on children in Ukrainian children's homes.
